A Day in the Life

ADITL2

Hi friends!  I'm Kayse, a work-at-home mommy to Emily Ann, and wife to my grad school student/musician hubby.  Life for us is busy, but pretty great. :)  Here's a peek into a day in our life...

5:00 a.m. - The hubby and I get up.  He showers and gets ready for work while I make his breakfast and pack his lunch.

5:30 a.m. - Hubby kisses me goodbye and leaves me with a quiet house and a sleeping baby.  Some days I'm too exhausted to stay up {so I sneak back into bed for a few more zzzzz's!}, but most days I spend this time reading and writing in my journal, and planning for the day!  I may or may not also catch up on facebook and my blogs... :)

7:30 a.m. - Emily is awake!  She usually wakes up with happy babbles, so getting her in the morning is one of my favorite things!  We come downstairs, and eat breakfast - usually eggs, an eggo waffle, or toast, and a bottle.

8:00 a.m. - Playtime!  Em and I play for about an hour.  Right now her favorites are puzzles, using the walker to practice her mad walking skills, and finding drawers that she can get into {and consequently dump out all over the floor...}.

9:00 a.m. - Naptime! Em is a big sleeper, so usually she goes down without a peep.  She'll sleep for anywhere from 2-3 hours, and this is my first big chunk of work time.  I teach elementary school online, so most of my work is on the computer.  I also try to call parents while Em is asleep, so I can focus on the phone call!  It's hard to tell parents how to teach syllables when there's a baby screeching for your attention {or who really just wants to play with/chew on the phone in your hand}.

12:00 p.m. - Emily wakes up and we go downstairs for lunch! Yogurt is always a big lunch hit, and usually some sliced turkey.  We're also working on drinking from a sippy, and it's looking like the straw sippies are the winner!  She gets a sippy of water with lunch. :)

12:30 p.m. - More playtime!  I've learned that I can't get any work done when Em is awake, so I try and use her awake time to just be with her.  During this playtime, we read books, dance to music, and practice walking some more.  We also play pretend kitchen. :)

2:00 p.m. - Time for another nap!  Emily sleeps while I prep dinner, catch up on my DVR shows, and work some more.  I answer emails, check attendance, and return more phone calls.

4:00 p.m. - Emily is up, and not super happy about it.  We have some cheerios and raisins for a snack, and get ready to head on out!  Since Em sleeps so much in the mornings and early afternoons, I try to save my errands for after 4.  We usually walk to Target, play at the park, or head to the grocery store with a handful of coupons.

5:00 p.m. - I finish prepping dinner, and keep it warm in the crock pot or oven till my hubby gets home.

5:30 p.m. - Bathtime!  Emily plays while I remind her that we don't stand up in the bathtub...

6:00 p.m. - Jon gets home and we have dinner as a family.  He makes silly faces at Emily and she eats it up.  She is such a Daddy's girl. :)  I love watching the two of them together!

6:30 p.m. - Either Jon or I take Emily upstairs and give her a bottle while we snuggle with her in the rocker.  She spends about 15 minutes finishing her bottle and relaxing {or climbing all over us, it really depends on the night}, and we put her down for the night around 6:45.

7:00 p.m. - Jon works on grad school homework, and I work on blogging stuff or making etsy orders.

9:00 p.m. - Jon and I finally get some time together, and cuddle on the couch while watching a favorite show... our current favorites are How I Met Your Mother and Once Upon A Time. :)

10:00 p.m. - Ideally we go to bed at 10!  But sometimes Jon has more work to do, or I get caught up with blogging stuff.  Let's just say we try our best to be in bed by 10, because tomorrow we start all over again at 5am!

And that's our normal day!  Nothing too exciting, but it works for us!  I'd love for you to come visit us over at Finding Hope, where I share a little more of my heart, along with some yummy recipes, organizing tips, and super cute baby photos. :)  Thanks for letting us invade your space today, Kacie!!! :)

Thank you so much for sharing your day with us, Kayse!  Be sure to check out her blog and show her & Emily some love!
